Service Project

Jared Box Project!

In honor of APO serving 90 years, we would like to support the national service project of the Jared Box Project during this year’s Section 41 Conference on April 22nd -24th, 2016. The Jared Box is a small plastic storage box filled with toys, games, and activities intended to lift the spirits of chronically ill children. The Jared Box is a service project challenged by the national president, John K. Ottenad, to all the brothers of Alpha Phi Omega.

The Conference Committee is asking each chapter in Section 41 to hold a service drive to collect items for the Jared Box Project. We are officially starting the service drive on Monday, March 21st and will lead into the conference weekend. On Friday, April 22nd, we ask each chapter to bring any items collected to Arlington in order to put the boxes together as a Section that Friday evening when we are all together. Attached is a list of suggested items.

To make this a little more interesting, we are making this a competition within the chapters of Section 41. Each week, we will ask your chapter representative the number of items your chapter has collected. You will see weekly updates on how much each chapter has collected on the APO Section 41 Facebook page found at

If you would like more information about the Jared Project in general, please visit The winning chapter will be presented an award Saturday night during the Section 41 Banquet. After the conference, the Jared Boxes will be donated to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.
